English has become a world language because of its establishment as a mother tongue outside England, in all the continents of the world. This exporting of English began in the seventeenth century, with the first setelments in North America. Above all,it is the great growth of population in the United States, assisted by massive immigration in the nineteenth and twentieth centyries, that has given the English language its present standing in the world.
People who speak English fall into one of three groups: those who have learned it as their native language ; those who have learned it as a second language in a society that is mainly bilingual; and those who are forced to use it for a practical purpose- administrative, profesional or educational today there are many people who are bilingual.
being bilingual means being able to communicate almost perfectly in two languages and also knowing something about both cultures.
. On a wider scale, learning two or more languages helps children to accept cultures other than their own. If speaking their mother tongue(s) at home and at school is encouraged, they are more likely to enjoy their difference and view difference in general as a positive thing.

English language is changing. And for example the own code you use when you are texting – including text speak when you're on the internet or using your phones. Fomo, bae, plos. They're pretty baffling. Apparently, 'plos' means 'parents looking over shoulder. Text speak is a lot to do with inventing cool new terms – and these change quickly.
