Read about Jim’s visit to the dentist.
I don’t like visiting the dentist, so I only go when I have to. Last week, I had a bad toothache for many days. I knew I needed help, so I made an appointment.
In the waiting room, I felt nervous. When the nurse called my name, I was surprised! She took me to a room with a big chair and bright lights. The hygienist smiled and said, “Sit here.” She put a bib around my neck, took an X-ray, and said, “The dentist will come soon.”
Soon, Doctor Jaws arrived. He said, “Jim, open your mouth.” I opened my mouth, and he looked at my teeth. “Oh no,” he said. “You have a cavity. But don’t worry—I can fix it today.”
Before I could speak, he used a small needle to make my gum numb. Then, he used a loud drill to fix my tooth. It didn’t hurt, but it felt strange. After the filling, the hygienist cleaned my teeth. The nurse gave me a cup to rinse the mouth.”
At the end, I paid the receptionist. As I left, Doctor Jaws said, “Your teeth are crooked. You need braces. Come back next week.”
I couldn’t talk because my mouth was numb, so I just nodded.
