Hello! My name is Luke. I am a linguist and language teacher. My passion is helping people learn about themselves through learning languages. I have taught English, Spanish and Russian around the world. These days, I am learning Japanese.
I wrote this small book to offer help to Russian people. Every person in the world has their opinions about the best way to learn a new language. This book is my professional and personal opinion. I hope that I can open you to new ideas.
I tried to write the book in a way that is easy to read for Russian people. Иногда я буду добавлять русские слова, для удобства начинающих. I hope you don’t feel that it is distracting.
The book has two sections. The first section, called «Learning about learning», has information about how to learn a language. It will help you with the mentality of learning English. There are many incorrect myths or ideas that people have about how to learn English. In this section, we will talk about having a healthy mentality to learn English!
The second section is about English. It is called «Learning about English». We will talk about grammar, vocabulary, and common mistakes. Of course, we could write a BIG book about English grammar. Instead of that, we will talk about two types of grammar: grammar that is really important, and grammar that is difficult for Russians.
Oh, I almost forgot: the most important thing for you to do, while you read this book, is to have fun! Please enjoy it. If you get bored, you can pause and start again later. Print it and write on it. If you don’t want to read part of it, you can jump to a different part of the book. You can open to a random page and start reading. Please enjoy.
